Mind your manners and tie up your bows

.history.

Her family can trace their descent down from the royal family for over a hundred years. They draw much of their pride from their blood which has produced several mages. The family fully believes it is on the next step down from royalty. They hold themselves and others to the strictest orders of conduct, breeding a sense of harsh discipline into their family's ranks. All the while, the family is also known for its great explosions. Every other generation it seems that one member of the family is outcast for getting in a great fight with the older members.

Jennifer is not one of those outcast. Instead her older brother challenged their father's authority when they both were younger, and got himself kicked out. Jennifer was raised believing that her brother wasn't disciplined enough to be able to stay in the family. Unfortunately, this left her sole heir, being the only remaining child in the family. She had been prepared lightly for the role already; her family believed that all the eggs shouldn't be in one basket, especially with blood as fine as theirs. Now she had the full weight of her family resting on her shoulders.

She hardened herself, inside and out. She became convinced that if couldn't show her father that she was as strong as steel he would turn back to his son in a desperate attempt to preserve the bloodline. She made herself into the force that would be needed to convince the King to take her into his family by marrying her to one of his sons. Barring that she needed to be powerful enough to marry a mage, she could not pollute the line by marrying below herself, and not subject the family to another time of being just nobility.

When she turned nineteen she found out that she had a new advantage. Noble blood has always been known for its magical predisposition, but one could never hope to be born with magic in theirs. The line had created another mage. Everthorne was her stairway to the heavens.

.beyond everthorne.

To say that Everthorne didn't have a big impact on Jennifer would be a lie. While she became greater in status, she had been shaken enough to do things that she regreted. Regardless, she wouldn't let it keep her down for very long. She threw herself into the social scene with all of her newfound power and influence. It backed up all of her old power and influence, putting her into an envious position.

She has been at odds with her Father ever since she graduated. He wants her to consolidate her new power by marrying a less powerful man, but she insists on pursuing royalty, or a powerful mage. He doesn't believe playing with fire will pay off, but she doesn't want to think about marrying a man who she won't be challenged to break.

Other than that, there has been little going on.

.personality.

She prides herself on the dangers of her company. She doesn't tolerate people who fail. She doesn't tolerate people who suck up simply to gain her favour in courtship. She doesn't tolerate people who don't act their station. She especially doesn't tolerate nobility who act like children. These people are to be embarrassed, and great pleasure is to be taken in it.

She is smart and she is cunning, but she makes herself out to be much greater than she actually is. She always assumes the worst of people, and can get herself into several problems she shouldn't have got herself into by acting on these feelings. She is frail and has little physical talents. She can ride but going too fast is dangerous for her, and she doesn't like doing it. She can already play tennis well enough not to be laughed at but it tires her, and she gets sore very easily. She denies that she has any problem in her physical qualities.

She is very crass when she is alone or with people who are much lower than herself. People who know her best are often surprised with how frank she can be in the dark of a private room compared to her behaviour in the light of a ballroom. She knows it's proper to talk to everyone the same, but she doesn't care about anyone lower on the social ladder than knight.

In spite of being so hard, she has softer spots. Poetry is her favorite form of literature, and she writes it as much as she reads it. She loves softer poems, but all the poems she writes herself come out as strong as her personality. She could never love a man who didn't like poetry, though she has known that she would never marry for love for a long time. She is always attracted to the villain in plays. A man who breaks the rules in such style is a man to be admired. Since she has long known that no one else shares her feelings, she hasn't told a soul.

.appearance.

Ever since she realised what being of noble blood truly meant she has put herself forward as the example to everyone else. She demands her presence be known, and likes to dress the part. She keeps her silver-blonde hair as long as possible, flowing down her back. She wears the most expensive jewels she can find, the most expensive dresses she can order, and makes sure the man on her arm is as beautiful and courteous as possible.

.miscalleneous.
